Blair Clatworthy
B.Phty, B.Sc (Hons), PGCertPhty(Acupunture) MPNZ, SEPNZ, PAANZ
Director/Senior Physiotherapist
Blair graduated from Otago University in 1992 with an Honours degree in Physiology and in 1996 he obtained a second degree in Physiotherapy.
Blair has continued with education and has gained other qualifications in Acupuncture and Manipulation and completed many other educational courses, as well as providing education sessions to large companies and organisations. Many Physio skills and knowledge you can only get from experience, and over the past 25 + years Blair has gained exceptional skills in accurate diagnosis and effective treatment. He knows when investigation through scans or x-rays are necessary and when referral onwards to specialists is appropriate, often initiating this sooner rather than later. As a result, Blair is known and respected by many Medical Specialists.
Blair has provided Physio for many sports teams and individual athletes, from rugby, rugby league, cricket, football, cycling, running, and rowing to just name a few. His understanding of biomechanics and his critical analysis of how movements are performed plus his ability to step back and think outside the square allows him to advise ways to reduce stress on the body and perform activities more efficiently preventing injury.
Blair has many interests, most of which involve a variety of different sports or outdoor activities. He has completed multisport events including the Coast-to-Coast Longest Day, Mountain Bike and Ultra running races, having completed the Kepler Challenge 10 x. Recently Blair has also taken up competitive Rowing proving it’s never too late to start something new. Blair knows how important it is to get back to function quickly and believes in having a healthy mix of work and play and encourages everyone else to do the same.
